For those of you who think that warm weather and springtime means that your season on the slopes is nearing an end, think again. March and April not only bring late snow showers, and beautiful weather, but here at Keystone we have a whole slew of events to keep you on the mountain until the snow begins to melt. Here is our list of the top ten reasons to look forward to spring on the slopes:
1. Keystone Mardi Gras Party – Tuesday, March 4th
What better way to kick of the springtime festivities than with Keystone’s Annual Mardi Gras Gumbo Cook-off and Beignets Bake-off? Join us on Fat Tuesday, March 4th, when the taste of New Orleans comes to River Run. The tastings will begin at 2:30 and will be accompanied by the music of Funky Johnson. 2. Winter Bluegrass Festival – March 7th – March 8th
Don’t miss out on The Dercum Center’s Third Annual Winter Bluegrass Festival happening this March 7th, and 8th. The festival will feature music from The Blue Canyon Boys, The Haunted Windchimes, and more. Snag your tickets here and don’t forget to bring your fiddles, banjoes and mandolins so you can join in the Community Jam on the dance floor!
3. Labontes BBQ
Springtime is the perfect time to come hang out at the Keystone Beach! Celebrate the warm weather with some fantastic barbeque, live music, beautiful views, and of course ice cold beer.
4. Red Bull Schlittentag – Saturday, April 5th
Get the creative juices flowing, put on your adventure pants, and grab two of your closest friends, because it is Schlittentag time. Come and join us Saturday, April 5th for the most entertaining and thrilling form of sledding. Three person teams will compete to create the wildest and fastest sled on the mountain. Participants will be scored on three categories: creativity, fastest time, and distance flown off of the kicker. Click here for more information and rules about the contest.
5. Slush Cup – Sunday, April 20th
Don’t miss your chance to score one of three Summit Passes by competing in this years Keystone Slush Cup. The event will take place over in the Mountain House Base area with the pond skimming competition beginning at 10:30am followed by awards and live music at the Last Lift Bar. Prizes will be awarded for best overall, best costume, and of course best crash.
6. Easter Egg Hunt – Sunday, April 20th
Come celebrate Easter with the family at Keystone’s festive Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 20th. The Easter Bunny himself will be paying Keystone a visit and leaving behind hundreds of Easter Eggs for the kiddos to hunt for.
7. Better Conditions for Beginners
The spring skiing conditions that are heading our way provide a fun and easy going environment for those who may be newer to the mountain. With warmer temperatures and softer snow, beginners can enjoy the ideal playful mountain environment all day long.
8. Longer Days
With springtime comes longer days, which means even more breath taking views. Take advantage of those extra hours
of daylight and enjoy the sunset while doing some night riding, or while kicking back and sipping on a beer on the Summit House Patio.
9. Tubing at Adventure Point
Tubing at Adventure Point is an activity that provides tons of fun for the whole family. The Adventure Point tubing hill stays open till mid-july, so if you are sad to see the snow go come get your fix on the tubing lanes.
