We certainly have the skiing and snowboarding covered – more than 3,000 skiable acres of terrain – but it is Keystone’s unique perks that have made us the ultimate family-friendly ski and snowboard resort. As one of the closest all-inclusive resorts to Denver, we are situated in the ultimate location for families to enjoy the allure of the mountains; be it on skis, snowboards, ice skates, snow tubes or horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Here are the top-10 reasons Keystone is the premier family-friendly resort:
1. Kids Ski Free at Keystone
Every day, all season, kids 12 and younger ski free at Keystone. As simple as childhood itself, Keystone’s Kids Ski Free program removes the red tape and fine print, has no blackout dates and is available on all weekends and holidays, a rarity in the ski industry. To qualify, children must stay two or more nights in one of Keystone’s numerous accommodation options, which span from luxury hotel rooms to cozy ski-in/ski-out condominiums. In just the first two season of the program, Keystone provided 60,000 Kids Ski Free lift tickets; proof that when it comes to family, Keystone is at the top of its game.
2. Keystone’s Kidtopia – Unmatched Family Programming
Keystone’s Kidtopia features daily activities and events, many of them free, that the whole family can enjoy! Kidtopia boasts an indoor headquarters, weekly parades, kids’ après offerings and a daily cookie hour at 4 p.m. This year, many new Kidtopia activities have been added as well, including a free outdoor on-snow play area, scavenger hunts and weekly movie showing at Kidtopia headquarters. The daily schedule for Keystone Kidtopia can be found here.
Don’t forget to visit the world’s largest snow fort, perched 11,640-feet above elevation atop Dercum Mountain. The life-sized snow fort features slides, mazes, photo opportunities and tons of fun for families.
3. Family Ski and Ride Zones

Families can also enjoy skiing and riding with Keystone’s mascot, Ripperoo, get pictures taken by our Epic Photographers, and meet Keystone’s Ski Patrol and avy dogs. The Schoolyard is conveniently located on our most popular green trail, Schoolmarm – a 3.5 mile top-to-bottom green run.
4. Progression-focused Terrain
Keystone offers one of the most accessible, progression-friendly mountain experiences in Colorado.
