Summers in Keystone are as perfect as you can get. Keystone enjoys summer temperatures in the 70s with an almost nonexistent humidity and tons of sunshine. This makes nearly every day a perfect day to go outside and enjoy the mountain views and activities with your pet. With so much to explore you’ll need to get up early to fit it all in. Just make sure to bring a rain jacket and watch the skies if you are headed out in the afternoon.

This dog friendly property is situated between the River Run Village and Lakeside Village which means you are minutes from all the activities and events Keystone has to offer. Other benefits of the Inn at Keystone include: rooftop hot tubs, complimentary hot breakfast buffet and the Black Bear Grill – which features Daily Yappy Hour All Summer Long.
That’s right, there is a happy hour created specifically for you and your dog! Yappy Hour takes place every afternoon from 4pm-7pm on the patio of the Black Bear Grill and includes great views and even greater happy hour specials. If you are around, don’t miss Wind Down Wednesdays for an unlimited wine tasting and select appetizers on the patio.

One of the challenges of taking your pet on vacation is what to do with your pet when you want to go out to eat. Often it is too hot to leave your dog in the car and most hotels don’t allow dogs to be left alone in the room. Thankfully, at Keystone there are a slew of restaurants that have patios and decks for you and your dog to dine.

- 9280 Tap House – Located in River Run and featuring a large deck with plenty of sun and shade, great drink specials and delicious food.
- Bighorn Bistro & Bar – Located in Lakeside Village the Bighorn Bistro and bar offers seasonally inspired cuisine, mixologist styled drinks, tons of outdoor seating, a 3pm-6pm for $3-$6 daily Happy Hour and $5 Moscow Mule Mondays.
- Black Bear Grill – Yappy Hour, river and mountain views accompanied by food and beverage specials.
- Edgewater Café – Located in Lakeside Village the Edgewater Café is the spot to enjoy lake and mountain patio views at Keystone. Come enjoy a relaxing breakfast or lunch with lakeside entertainment.
Not to be missed-pet friendly events
Lakeside Village is the home of the Summer on the Lake Series – a weekly event that offers kayak, paddle boat and paddle board rentals for you and your dog and an along the lake food and beer garden that allows you to have a scenic walk – beverage in hand. Summer on the Lake is a great way to enjoy afternoon in Keystone.
You and your pet can start the weekend off right with Keystone Resort’s Friday Afternoon Club. FAC takes place every Friday from 1pm – 7pm at the Summit House. During FAC hours you can pick up your FREE foot passenger ticket and take the gondola up to Dercum Mountain for amazing view, live music, yard games and food and beverage specials.
Dog Friendly Activities
Keystone and the surrounding area have hiking trails for every level of hiker. Hiking is a perfect activity to explore the mountains with your dog. Stop by Activities and Dining in River Run Village for trail suggestions.

Enjoy a scenic gondola ride to the top of Dercum Mountain with breath taking views of the 10 Mile Mountain range and clear, clean air. At the top you can enjoy the scenic views, watch tubers go down the snow tubing hill and take a break at the Overlook Grill.
The Adventure Center is the center for lakeside activities, including paddle boating, kayak and canoe rentals, paddle board rentals and fish feeding. Entertain your pet with a ride around the lake.
Warning: the lake’s a little chilly all summer long so make sure they don’t knock you in.
Lakeside is also a great spot for a walk around the lake or a great place to start off on a hiking trail. If attempting to kayay or paddle board with your dog will most likely result in a dunk into the lake, another option is to head down the road to the Frisco or Lake Dillon Marina and rent a canoe, speed boat or pontoon boat.
